But in all reality God Does the work!! And this applies in all things not just missionary work.
First example of missionaries work; as missionaries we keep a lot of records. If you have served a mission they know how well a good record can help us be more effective missionaries.... we just had a sweet lesson with a guy named Dwayne so we walked around the corner getting out of view to update our records. As were updating we both noticed this one house. We checked the record to see if it had been anyone previously interested and it was one a guy named Darnell! His record was amazing he wanted to be baptized he was just going on a trip and wanted to start meeting with missionaries once he got back... we had one problem that was 6 years ago and the house looked abandoned(like most houses are in the area) . We knocked and the guess what the house was abandoned. Yay!.. so we left, but as we walked down off his porch Darnell pulled up(the house owner) and said "hey guys it's been a long time since I have seen you, y'all know I don't live here anymore I have an apartment
downtown. I still own the place but I only come over once in a while to check the mail. I am really glad I ran into you today" it was a huge miracle and he will be baptized real quick... it's a perfect example of how God does the work in missionary work...
But let's relate this more to you. As God Prompts you to do something he will make it happen if it is his will and you put forth the Effort.
Before I left on my mission I felt very strongly that I should go on this humanitarian trip, but I was saving for my mission so how could I afford it.... I went to work everyday in addition to doing any little job I knew of and yet as it got closer I was still very short money wise I was probably like 700 dollars short of the money needed. I was so close yet so far away, the deadline was soon. Its was impossible for me to make that amount of money in a few days. Time passes now the deadline is eminent I have more money but not enough, then last minute an anonymous donor read my record and gave me $500 to help me get on the trip. It was a miracle... I was ment to be on that trip. On that trip i learned how work hard with very little and found the joy of service. God knew I needed to be there so he made it possible. As you strive for Godly Goals, he will pre form the miracle. If this is not enough to spark your faith to believe me read Moroni 7 and 2 nephi 27 ... GOD DOES THE WORK!
We had Stake conference this week and it was Jam packed with the spirit and revelation as we all gathered together in a Masonic temple. It was a little weird as our mission president was asked to speak on blessings of marriage.. he called all the missionaries out and told us what they do us preparation for marriage it was pretty awkward for us after ward. But that wasn't the spiritual part... one of the leaders invited each of us to remember times we knew God loved us and If we couldn't think of any to pray and ask heavenly father for it and then be patient and diligently search for it. It will come... I teared up a bit as I thought of moments when I have felt that.
