We don't have much time today there is too much to around Dayton.
Elder Meyers is my new companion and he is from Centeral Washington (Yakima) powerful Elder this next transfer is gonna be fun!
Here in Dayton we teach a lot of refugees from Congo and other countries around its really cool ( a lot don't speak much english )
We had one lesson this week, when we showed up on time to Angolani, and Shiboni. Well only Angelina was home so we couldnt meet up. We go and we both felt confused at what we should do then we talked for 30 minuets disagreeing on what to do (intresting conversation)... then Shiboni knocked on our window because Angelo saw us park up the street and told her father to rush home so we could still meet. It was a good visit( still really hard to teach people who don't speak English) but they say the feel really good when we were there and are very greatful for us coming. they speak Swahili.
Elder Meyers has struggled with working with members his whole mission getting tierd of less active work when there are non members waiting and pleading to hear the gospel.... I prayed to be able to help him understand the need for it.... one day a lesson fell through i told elder Meyers we shouldn't go to the back up plans but that there were three members on the map i wanted to visit near by; first one answered not interested, second one didnt answer, third one was awesome Jerimiah who hasn't been to church in a long time his last ward was YSA he now has 2 kids. We asked him if he had ever shared the gospel and it just so happens thst hiss sister is looking for a church, he is taking us to teach her next week!
Lastly there is a blind recent convert named Jamey(he is the best but that's a differnt topic) were going through the new member lessons and he taught us about the Holy Ghost: he was trying to quit coffee for the word of wisdom and he had been clean for a week but he couldn't take it anymore he made a pot, and it tastes like dirty socks he tried a second cup still tasted like dirty socks(he knows from experience). So he figured that he just hadnt changed the filter so he changed the filter and yet again it still tasted like dirty socks. He went out to star bucks and bought a cup and it still was nasty he gave up for the day. The next day he made a pot and it tasted as good as ever.... He realizes now thst when the coffee tasted bad he had the spirit with him but because he was relentlessly sinning the next day he didn't not have the spirit to protect him anymore.
Love you all
Elder Jarvis
P.s. pictures from the second floor of the church( the church rents out a building in town while they build a church, but they only use the bottom floor and have locked off the other floors to the public)
