this week was a good one. :)
Sister Welch
Let me just take a second to describe the miracle this gospel brings, we had Zone conference this week. Sister Welch, my mission President's Wife, has got some cancer coming her way, but they caught it early by our(missionaries) knowledge and it is not as bad as it could be. After going through surgery and being drained from them literally surgically taking things out of her, came to zone conference. She had prepared a message a week in advance knowing of the Surgery however with her intense fatigue woke up that morning and felt that she needed to give us her message. She is the eppitemy of what this Gospel can do for someone. Despite everything being against her, she acted in faith and followed a prompting in which her example has begun to change the mission dramatically. I hope someday to have a faith as strong as hers. The Great miracle of the Gospel is people as generous, kind, and faithful as her.
Study plan
from Zone Conference we were re-encouraged to do the mission study plan, one aspect of it is to memorize the living Christ. for the last while I have read it every night before doing anything else when i come in. It has helped me to feel accepting of my efforts for the day and motivated to do the other tasks at hand. Also has increased my confidence of what i know to be true and i feel a confirmation of my heavenly fathers divine gift everytime i read it. I would invite anyone who feels inspired to accept the same challenge.
side note I initially thought the task was impossible, i was invited to do this 6 mouths ago but rejected it because it was a culture i did have to accept and didn't imagine I could accomplish but as i have tried my mind has is opening to a greater capacity of knowledge.
Elder Barrett
Elder Barrett is just the best, i got to go on an Exchange with him this week and on that exchange it was very clear that he was called at that time for me to help lift me.
It was very apparent in our work, in the morning we prayed more fervently then i have in a while for God to reveal to us what he had planed for the Highland Heights area(Elder Barrets area), God answered that Prayer. we set inspired goals to be able to talk to a certain number of people, find some one new to teach, and be able to meet one of Christs Lost sheep(Less Active). The Way was prepared that we met all of those goals by 3 O'clock, and by 6 O'clock we doubled our goal of how many people we wanted to talk to. It was a very spiritually led day, constantly on the street getting promptings to stop and knock a door, eat out, or other activities. I am very grateful for that day of Service.
side note: In the morning right after morning prayers, Elder Barrett looks at me and says you like running right? i said yea why? he replied lets go for a run.
that has never happened on my mission. that was a great way to start that day.... it makes me want to sing"for the First time in forever"...
Badminton
We are seeing great success from Brother Da Rosa leading out this adventure for gathering those of Chinese descent. we started with the hopes of having a badminton Game of at least us and one other of their Friends. by the second week we already have 6 Non Members coming to badminton and the majority of them have been wanting to try out Christianity but was scared because of all the rumors they have heard about churches. The Gathering of Israel is Being hastened as the prophets have Declared. I beg of you with all the Fibers of my soul to take the opportunity today to take part in it. There is no Greater Joy that can be found without these Blessing.
Sunday is a special day...
In Kentucky the Humidity is a lot higher then utah so when it snows it ices over everywhere.
The Lakeside Park ward was the only ward that didn't cancel services that day.. as mission are cars were put on locked down so we walked a few miles in 6 inches of snow to church(not bad compared to other peoples journeys"... we arrive to see find that attendance at church is a third of the normal number leaving around 30 people( 6 being missionaries) in a large chapel due to many being afraid to drive or that their roads hadn't been paved yet at 9 am in the morning. luckily the speakers showed up but the bishop felt that their messages should be shared to a larger congregation next week. so he to not throw anyone under the bus turned the meeting into a fast and testimony meeting. I can not describe how think the spirit was as man after man Got up and Expressed their Gratitude for the opportunity to take the Sacrament. it was truly a great day.

Love you all
Elder Jarvis
