its funny how things change, back home being asked to pull weeds or do other tasks was always another activity added to our plates, but as a missionaries. we jump at the opportunity to do it. it is a great way to soften peoples hearts. if only all missionaries could keep that desire to help through out their lives. if that happened how great would things be.
anyway stepping off my soap box for a moment, this week was good, we got to help sister Compton! it was really cool she is a member i haven't been able to talk to much but we stopped by at night and we saw that her garden was being over run. we offered to help and she almost cryingly accepted then offer, it was supper fun getting to know her, and i cant lie i am a bit proud of myself... a long time ago she hired a company to remove a small tree for her, well they only took it off the surface and left the tree to grow back year after year.... she was only able to have some cut it down every other year... she didn't tell us about it, but after scraping a trouwl across it and braking it i was determined to remove what ever cause the break... the story goes on with her permission and i dug a 3 foot hole and pulled up the root of the small stump and roots by hand... so that it will never grow back again... meanwhile my companion weeded the rest of the yard... well after doing something that probably was ineffective to our purpose we said our good byes and went home... well she posted the pictures of what we did and how great full she was for us and some of her(non member) neighbors agreed to let us help them.
sometimes we just have to understand that Gods plan is not our plan
following that same principle, today i had to get my flu shot... unenthusiastic about the time it took to wait in line at Walmart. i figured to make the best of the opportunity and started talking to lady in front of me. well over time it progressed to the point i was talking to 15 people at once, its was crazy. sadly nothing great came of it, but i feel that i help someone today and in that i am happy. if your willing to act god will place the opportunity in front of you. however more important then asking yourself if you are willing to act is to ask if you see them? he is there but do you see Him?
stepping off the soap box again... we had another sweet miracle, our efforts failed and seemed to be in vain as we tried everything to get the people we were working with to church, because none of them have come the last few weeks... however this week three different members decided it was there obligation to get a non member to church this week. and they did! it was cool and i am excited to watch the people they brought progress... i don't have enough time to tell you all about it, just know it was great.
i title it you cant stop us because you cant. no unhallowed hand can stop the work.
but this week a less active member asked us to help him move to his new house... and requested we bring no one with us... thinking the activity not very productive use of our time we felt we should go anyway...
we help him move and he expressed how thankful he was for our help but he only ordered us to do this and that and didnt really want to talk to us about himself or the church or anything in general... dispite his disregaurd, ben and chase two of his sons eventually came to help and they talked to us and over the course of moving everything chase said he would have to ask his wife but he would love to have us over. we had some good fellow ship with Ben
he may have denied the message for now, but god knows the way to their hearts, and he cant denie the gospel if all around him partake. he is a good guy, were just praying to soften his heart a little bit more becasue he needs the gospel in his life.
thats my story.. til next week
